Since SCOPEinsight was founded in 2010, we have led the way in developing innovative, universally-applicable assessment tools that measure the level of farmer professionalism in emerging markets. SCOPEinsight believe that farmer professionalism is the key to structural transformation of the agricultural sector. By providing business intelligence we aim to increase transparency in the agricultural market, lower investment risks and increase business opportunities for stakeholders in and around the agricultural value chain.

Benjamin Wielgosz


As Senior Technical Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist SCOPEinsight, Ben brings significant experience in applying statistical analysis and data science to a wide range of economic development challenges in Asia and Africa. At SCOPEinsight, he is responsible for finding answers to the bigger issues in agriculture.

He graduated from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) with dual degrees in Mathematics and Geography, and started out his career as a geographic information system (GIS) specialist for the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) in Pakistan and South Sudan before moving into a spatial data management role at ICF-International. After completing an International Economics degree at American University (AU) he worked with leading Washington think-tanks – the Brookings Institution and the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) in a range of quantitative analysis roles delivering evidence-based policy solutions for agriculture in Africa and Asia.

Prior to joining SCOPEinsight, Ben was based in Geneva where he has worked as a technology programme manager for the World Economic Forum’s Grow Africa Initiative delivering online investment evaluation and agricultural CSR reporting tools to support public private partnerships in the African agricultural industry.

Since then he has provided business development services to a number of start-ups in African agriculture and technology services including business planning, market research, and impact investment advisement. He publishes perspectives on the African Ag-Tech industry online through LinkedIn – Pulse.


Lucas Simons


Lucas Simons is the founder and CEO of SCOPEinsight and New Foresight  (a strategy consulting firm dedicated to driving change). He is is passionate about sustainable agriculture and has dedicated his life to working on this topic.  His book Changing the Food Game  is an example of how partnership and scaling sustainability can become reality, create momentum, and drive lasting change.

Lucas is always seeking sustainability solutions in the market. Previously, Lucas was the first director of UTZ CERTIFIED (2002-2008) – a leading global certification and sustainability standard organization for sustainable coffee, cocoa and tea and was responsible for spreading the certification label globally.

In 2011, he was honored as Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum for his commitment and accomplishments in the field of sustainable trade, agriculture and rural development. In 2013, he became an Ashoka Fellow for his pioneering role as a social entrepreneur and a systemic change maker.

From 2011-2013, Lucas has ranked in the top 20 of most influential persons in Sustainable Development in the Netherlands (Trouw Newspaper).

As an excellent speaker and facilitator Lucas always evokes action on tough and systemic challenges. To get an idea of how Lucas is translating his ideas into sustainable sector transformations, his TedX talk can be seen here.

Lucas Simons holds an MSc Environmental Hygiene degree from Wageningen University and an MBA degree with Merit from Tias-Nimbas Graduate School of Management.

Carolina van Loenen


As Operations and Customer Success Manager at SCOPEinsight, Carolina brings several years of management experience to her responsibility of monitoring operations.  This experience is complemented by her personable demeanor and polyglot capabilities to foster relationships with clients and operational partners at implementation level.

Her prior experience includes her work at the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA) as a project assistant where she provided outstanding project management backstopping to the Pacific region as well as in Eastern and Southern Africa by providing overall project monitoring, communication among stakeholders and organizing conferences.  Furthermore, she was an active member of internal working groups on business intelligence and change management.

Carolina holds a MSc. Degree in International Relations at Utrecht University.

Diana Chiodo


As Data Analyst and Business Intelligence Specialist, Diana brings forth her rich experience working in agricultural focused international organizations to provide insights on client assessment data and develop strategic best practices.

Prior to SCOPEinsight, Diana worked with the United Nations World Food Programme’s Early Warning and Logistics analyzing agricultural markets, trade, and providing field support. Her agricultural experience is further strengthened by her work with the Food and Agricultural Organization in Mali where she built humanitarian partnerships for the Food Security Cluster.

Diana is passionate about agribusiness value chain analysis and connecting people to sustainable markets. She enjoys the challenges in making sense of data and strategic thinking to find the best opportunities.

Diana holds a MSc. in Food Security and Human Development from Roma Tre University.

Juliet MacDowell


As Marketing Manager, Juliet is responsible for sharing our collective successes and amplifying our client’s good work.  She is passionate about SCOPE’s mission to transform the agricultural sector and is committed to sharing this vision with everyone!

Juliet has been working in the development field for over 20 years and has experience in all cycles of program development and implementation. She also has extensive experience in business development, fundraising, and proposal writing.

Juliet holds a Masters Degree in International Development and Economics from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Contemporary African History.

John Cherek


As Strategic Sales Manager, John uses his open and professional style to help our clients find the services that will fit their needs.  He leads our efforts in connecting with our clients to create a common vision around farmer professionalism and therefore enhancing systems change.

John has a rich background in agriculture – in the Netherlands. His previous position as a program director and social entrepreneur for a sustainable agricultural and community development project in the Netherlands has helped him understand the challenges of balancing the capacity of mother nature with the demands of value chain players.  This, alongside his corporate wholesale experience in fresh ingredients, makes for an eclectic yet well-rounded point of reference for all your agricultural program and systems transformation needs.

John holds as Master’s degree in Political Science (2009) from the University of Amsterdam and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Seattle University (2000).  His work and travels have brought him to many parts of the world (Siberia, Sierra Leone, Seattle) and so he feels right at home with his international client portfolio.

Joe Iveson


Joe is SCOPEinsight’s Operations and Sales Trainee where he helps support the company’s daily operations including co-developing a customer evaluation system.  As a new graduate from Utrecht University where he obtained his Masters Degree in Sustainable Development, Joe has a strong background in conducting interviews and analyzing data.  Aside from his coursework, Joe’s international focus is indicated by his international travels and has volunteer work in a refugee shelter.

Tessa van der Meiden


Tessa van der Meiden is office manager at SCOPEinsight and its sister company NewForesight. She masters the skill of juggling the different needs and perspectives of our organisations.

Tessa is driven to work for positive impact. Before joining us at SCOPEinsight, she worked for over 6 years at an international not-for-profit organization which focused on making quality healthcare accessible and affordable for low- and middle-income countries. Tessa believes in the people behind impact and finding opportunities to empower them.

Tessa studied Tourism Management at Schoevers in Amsterdam.

Jem Kipgen


As Operations Officer, Jem Kipgen is responsible for overseeing assessment processes and maintaining the IT systems that support the operational processes. He also developed the e-training methods for assessors and is experienced in managing e-trainings for different clients. Furthermore, Jem is responsible for data mining.

Before joining SCOPEinsight, he worked in India and the USA, where he gained experience in project management, IT Web development and programming.

Jem holds a BA degree in Computer Information Systems and Applied Economics from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota and an MSc in Business Administration, with a specialization in Finance, from TiasNimbas Business School in Utrecht.

Marise Blom


As General Manager of SCOPEinsight, Marise leads team of high-performing professionals to be efficient, productive, and effective. She is passionate about transforming the Agricultural sector in emerging markets through the professionalization of Farmer Organizations and Agribusinesses.

Marise brings over three decades of diverse and robust experience with a wide array of businesses from large multi-nationals, start-ups, NGOs, to Emerging Market Funds.  During her career, she refined her business acumen and leadership skills.

Marise holds an MSc Economics degree from the Groningen University in the Netherlands.

What the Job is

As SCOPEinsight’s Project Administration Officer you will help support our mission to professionalize farmer organizations in Emerging Markets.  Your role will be to support our sales and operations activities with the intention of creating happy clients.  The Project Administration Officer serves as a linchpin between sales and operations by providing excellent customer service and support, ensuring that feedback from the client is shared to other team members to ensure continuous improvement, and organizing trainings for the client.  

Responsibilities include:


  • Support Operations with administrative tasks to support clients who implement the SCOPE tools and systems. This includes planning trainings, updating the project management system, supporting platforms clients use including the ‘helpdesk’, and providing administrative support (i.e. processing creditors invoices, contracting, invoicing clients).
  • Assist with monthly Operations reporting (using Qlik) and other reporting
  • Implement and improve a client satisfaction review system
  • Support Operations Manager in project evaluations
  • Collect feedback on SCOPE products and services during project implementation

Sales & Marketing

  • Follow-up with existing clients to explore potential expansion of partnership
  • Organize online campaigns for prospects, arrange webinars, and other marketing campaigns
  • Complete and clean-up contacts and projects in CRM

Who You Are

  • You have a business mindset and you find resourceful ways to accomplish your goals and don’t let small obstacles stand in your way. You’re a doer and make things happen. Nothing slows you down!
  • You’re a Good Communicator and highly diplomatic
  • You can work independently as well as in a team
  • You have excellent organizational skills and can prove it!

  • You have at least two-years’ experience in project administration
  • You have work experience with online platforms and/or webinar/training environments
